Science and Parliament 2013
Two YAS members were given the opportunity to give presentations on their work at the Royal Society of Chemistry's Science and the Parliament event held at Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh, November 2013. Click on the images below to download their presentaitons.
Dr Marc Dweck, clinical lecturer at the Edinburgh University/British Heart Foundation centre for Cardiovascular Science, talked about his work on modern non-invasive scanning techniques, which provide us with detailed pictures of the heart, providing novel insights into the processes underlying cardiovascular disease.
Dr Karen Lorimer, senior research fellow in public health at Glasgow Caledonian University, spoke about health inequalities in Scotland, drawing upon her research interest of sexual health, arguing that we must ensure we do not abandon social science efforts to tackle HIV in favour of biomedical approaches.
