Granton Hub is a friendly arts and community hub in the coastal area of Northern Edinburgh where people can meet, participate, learn, create and enjoy a range of great activities. Our base is the beautiful and historic Madelvic House, a space that’s closely linked with Granton’s rich industrial heritage.
Recycl-Age Art exhibition July 2021
The Recycl-Age Art exhibition was created as a collaboration between YAS and Granton Hub, as part of this Coastal Knowledge project and was included in the 2021 Edinburgh Science festival. It offered artists a unique opportunity to showcase their work. Recycl-Age Art 2021 includes painters, printmakers, collage artists, ceramicists, illustrators, photographers, textile artists, jewellers, composers, poets and makers. Many pieces incorporate recycled elements, indeed several are made of 100% recycled and repurposed materials. Some artists reflect on what the Scottish coasts means to them, figuratively or conceptually.
This page is part of Coastal Knowledge, an online exhibition mapping some of the amazing places on the coast of Scotland. It includes pictures, memories, artworks, stories and videos submitted by a variety of people including scientists, artists, coastal dwellers, tourists, and community organisations. We want to share the beauty of the Scottish coast, but also its vital role in the day-to-day lives of people in Scotland- for example, its many industrial roles.
This exhibition is dynamic and ongoing- and we’d love for you to share contributions for it too! To learn more and submit your own coastal knowledge, visit the main page of the exhibition.
