Curious Edinburgh

Curious Edinburgh provides app—based walking tours through Edinburgh. Developed by the University of Edinburgh, we showcase Edinburgh’s fascinating and important scientific heritage as well as main social and cultural developments which shape the city, as well as Edinburgh’s social history and international connections. We have sought out stories from the history of Edinburgh which will inspire, inform and amuse both visitors and residents of the city. More tours are currently in development and we welcome your ideas.

Scottish Marine Quarry
This picture shows the Scottish Marine Station for Scientific Research at Granton Sea Quarry, a stop on the Granton:hub walking tour.

This page is part of Coastal Knowledge, an online exhibition mapping some of the amazing places on the coast of Scotland.  It includes pictures, memories, artworks, stories and videos submitted by a variety of people including scientists, artists, coastal dwellers, tourists, and community organisations.  We want to share the beauty of the Scottish coast, but also its vital role in the day-to-day lives of people in Scotland- for example, its many industrial roles.

This exhibition is dynamic and ongoing- and we’d love for you to share contributions for it too!  To learn more and submit your own coastal knowledge, visit the main page of the exhibition.
