On the evening of 29th October 2015, 19 individuals from the Young Academy of Scotland (YAS), the Fulbright Commission, the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the United States Embassy in Edinburgh gathered at the Royal Society of Edinburgh for an informative meeting and reception.
The event, which was chaired by Graeme Herbert, Deputy Chief Executive of the RSE, focussed on the following goals: establishing links between the Young Academy of Scotland and Fulbright Scholars in Scotland, raising awareness of the ongoing global movement of Young Academies, and identifying areas for collaboration between the individuals and organisations in attendance.
After introductions by the chair and Fulbright Commissioner Dame Seona Reid FRSE, Dr Karly Kehoe, co-chair of the YAS Facilitating Group and co-lead of the YAS International Links working group introduced YAS to all attendees. She also gave an overview of the organisations’ new 5-year Strategic Plan, 2020 Vision. This presentation was followed by a viewing of YAS’s 2020 Vision video, which contains images of many YAS projects to date.
This presentation was followed by a Q&A session. Then, all attendees were invited to introduce themselves and give a short overview of their work and interests.
The meeting was followed by a dynamic and cooperative networking reception.
