Adolescent Mental Health in Pakistan

Dr Amna Khalid visited the School of Health in Social Science, University of Edinburgh, hosted by YAS member Stella Chan and sponsored by the RSE Visitor to Scotland fund. Dr Khalid presented data illustrating depression as a key health problem in Pakistani youth population. She also described the challenges faced by their communities, such as lack of resources for mental health services and stigma. The talk sparked interesting discussion in the audience which is represented both academics and mental health practitioners. Her visit was concluded by productive discussions of research collaborations addressing mental health problems both for youth in Pakistan and for ethnic minority groups in the UK.
