All YAS activities are interdisciplinary and encompass one (or more) or the six core themes laid out in our five-year Strategic Plan, 2020 Vision:

 

Many YAS activities are conducted by Working Groups which set their own agenda of activities and work toward responding to some of the most interesting and pressing challenges facing Scotland today. Some activities are carried out by temporary "special project" groups, which may apply for YAS Grants, or seek external funding.  Other projects and events are carried out in conjunction with partner organisations.

Our Members

Matthew Smith is a Senior Lecturer and Director of Research for History at the University of Strathclyde, and a member of the Centre for the Social History of Health and Healthcare. Drawn to divisive topics in medicine, his research concentrates on mental health, allergy, food and nutrition, child health and environmental medicine.
