Young Academy Member Nigel Eccles, co-founder and CEO of FanDuel, recently picked up the Developing Entrepreneur Award at the third annual ITC Enterprise Awards. The awards were presented by some of the IT industry's biggest names, including Mike Lynch, Founder of Autonomy, Mark Lancaster, Founder, Chairman and CEO of SDL and Mike Tobin, CEO of Telecity, at a celebratory dinner held on Friday 7 June at Plaisterers' Hall in London.
More than 200 people attended the gala ceremony, which is rapidly establishing a reputation as a premier entrepreneur event in the UK's technology industry. The awards celebrate the achievements of the most successful entrepreneurs in the industry and are open to anyone sponsored by a member of the ITC.
Nigel is delighted to have won the award and acknowledged the instrumental work of his co-founders in the company's success. FanDuel's daily sport games have become the market leader online; since it began in 2009, FanDuel has grown to hold 60 per cent of the share of daily games, four times more than their biggest rival in a widely scattered market.
Now with investors in the UK and US, Nigel and his team continue to take on CBS, Yahoo and ESPN in the ever-growing market of fantasy gaming. Nigel has secured $18 million of investment, as currently $1 investment spend generates $6 in return.
