Three Young Academy Members win RSE Prizes

Three Young Academy members are recognised in the 2013 list of RSE Prize winners announced on 22 March.  The Young Academy members received Early Career Prizes – in academia an early career is defined as “a researcher with a minimum of two years postdoctoral work experience and no more than ten years postdoctoral work experience”. Outwith academia early career is defined as “those who have already demonstrated outstanding ability in their work and professional practice within thirteen years of graduation.”

The prize winners and their respective medals are

  • Patrick Neill Medal: Dr Marc Dweck, University of Edinburgh
  • Thomas Reid Medal: Dr Gordon Pentland, University of Edinburgh
  • Henry Duncan Medal: Mr Neil McLennan, Aberdeen City Council

Each Early Career Prize winner will receive a medal which will be presented on the occasion of the lecture delivered by the 2013 Senior Prize winner.
