Congratulations to YAS member, Dr Theodore Koutmeridis on receiving the British Academy Rising Star Engagement Award (BARSEA) for his interdisciplinary project, "Inequality, Conflict and Violence."
The project connects economics to applied social science research methods and evidence-based policymaking on the issues of inequality, criminal behaviour, conflict and violence. This prestigious award will allow Dr Koutmeridis to form an Early Career Network on the subject to facilitate and encourage conversation and ideas between experts, academics, businesspersons and policy stakeholders.
The Principal of the University of Glasgow, Professor Anton Muscatelli, FRSE, welcoming this award said: "I am delighted to hear about this award by the British Academy to establish the Early Career Network on "Inequality, Conflict and Violence". Addressing inequalities is a major research strength of the University of Glasgow and this award will contribute to our research profile in this area."
Nasar Meer, co-chair of the Young Academy of Scotland's Facilitating Group said: "In the best traditions of the Young Academy of Scotland (YAS) it is excellent to see YAS members creating innovative networks that directly and impartially address contemporary social challenges."
YAS looks forward to this upcoming project and working with Dr Koutmeridis.
