Zaher is a PhD candidate in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Aberdeen. He is a pharmacist from Aleppo, Syria who has three-year experience in managing pharmaceutical quality control laboratories. He has been generously awarded full scholarships to complete his studies in the UK which enabled him to finish his Master’s degree in Clinical Pharmacology and start his PhD both at the University of Aberdeen. The main research area he is investigating is the role of G-protein coupled receptors to reveal novel targets to solve unmet medical needs. Thus, his main PhD project is about uncovering new targets to treat Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension which is still a disease with high mortality rates.
