Dr Zahra Rattray is a pharmacist with a background in pharmaceutical sciences research having worked as a practising pharmacist in the clinical setting, the pharmaceutical industry and academia (Yale School of Medicine, Manchester Pharmacy School).
She is a Senior Lecturer in Translational Pharmaceutics at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS). Her lab is interested in developing new tools for the evaluating the safety of next-generation medicines. She is also interested in understanding the role of nuclear transport in cancer aggressiveness with a view to developing new chemotherapies. Her research team uses an interdisciplinary approach to study these subjects.
Zahra is director of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council Multiscale Metrology Suite for Next Generation Health Nanotechnologies, seeking to improve measurement of new nanoscale medicines. Zahra is passionate about public engagement and is looking forward to working with YAS members to inspire the next-generation of pharmacists from across Scotland and make health knowledge accessible to all.
