Dr Altmann joined Heriot-Watt University in 2014 as a postdoctoral researcher within the Institute of Sensors, Signals and Systems at Heriot-Watt University. In 2017, he was awarded a 5-year Research Fellowship by the Royal Academy of Engineering to develop new computational methods for low-illumination imaging and sensing. Since 2022, he has been an Associate Professor at the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University. His group develops computational methods for imaging inverse problems, applied to defence and security, remote sensing and quantum technologies.
