Siobhan O'Connor

Siobhán is a Lecturer in the School of Health and Social Care at Edinburgh Napier University. She has a multidisciplinary background with a BSc Business Information Systems and BSc Nursing from University College Cork, Ireland. Her research focuses on health informatics, in particular how patients and the public can use technology to manage long-term conditions at home and for preventative health. She is currently completing her PhD on this topic at the University of Glasgow. Siobhán also has a keen interest in leveraging technology to enhance higher education and engage students in learning through social media and other online platforms. Siobhán is an active STEM Ambassador and member of the WISE campaign to promote science and technology subjects and careers to young people, especially young women and girls who are under-represented in these industries. She is also a member of the European Academy of Nursing Science and the American Nursing Informatics Association to promote informatics as an important speciality in nursing across Europe and worldwide.
