Samuel Owusu Achiaw is a researcher with a clinical background at the Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment Unit in the School of Health and Wellbeing, University of Glasgow. His research evaluates the clinical, economic, and societal impacts of digital and emerging health technologies, as well as public health interventions. Using a multidisciplinary approach, his work informs evidence-based decision-making by policymakers, clinicians, technology developers, investors, and other stakeholders. Within his school, he leads advocacy for international staff and students.
Alongside his academic work, Samuel is a self-taught artist who uses creativity as a tool for social and cultural dialogue. His art explores identity, the relationship between humans and nature, and Ghanaian and West African cultures and philosophies. His work has been exhibited across the UK and internationally and has received critical recognition, including the Hahnemühle Fine Art Prize from the Royal Society of British Artists and the British Art Prize. Samuel is also a member of the UK Young Academy.
