Patrick Harkness

Patrick is a Lecturer in space systems engineering at the University of Glasgow. He studied at The Queen’s University of Belfast and then at Cranfield University before moving here, in 2008, to work on planetary drilling and sampling tools in support of the future exploration of Mars. Most recently, his work has expanded to tackle the growing problem of debris in Low Earth Orbit. Patrick has worked to establish a new Space Research Cluster that brings together space activities across the University of Glasgow, and is involved in UK space policy development and the public promotion of space research.
