Niki Vermeulen is a lecturer in history/sociology of science in the Science, Technology and Innovation Studies group of the School of Social and Political Science of the University of Edinburgh. She is interested in science policy and the various ways in which research is organised, focussing on scientific collaboration, especially in the life sciences. Topics include marine biology, virology, systems biology and 3D-bioprinting, including applications for health. Currently, she is also exploring possibilities to write a real-time biography of the new collaborative Francis Crick Institute. Moreover, she is developing virtual walking tours through Edinburgh’s scientific past (www.curiousedinburgh.org).
