Dr Nasar Meer is a Reader in Comparative Social Policy and Citizenship at Strathclyde University. His research explores how different nation-states reconcile ideas of unity with ethnic and religious diversity, with a specific focus on both race equality and Muslim identities. During 2013 he was a Minda de Gunzberg Fellow at Harvard University, a Visiting Fellow with the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH) at the University of Edinburgh, and a member of the British Council's Outreach Program. Nasar has previously studied at the Universities of Bristol, Edinburgh and Essex, and held visiting fellowships with the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African-American Studies, Harvard University, and the Department of Political Science and Government, Aarhus University.
