Mark is a lecturer in chemistry at the University of Glasgow, specialising in finding sustainable ways to produce fuels and remove pollutants from the environment. As part of his research, Mark co-invented a new type of water electrolyser, which is being spun out from the University of Glasgow. Mark is the secretary of the Glasgow and West of Scotland section of the Royal Society of Chemistry and he is committed to public outreach, having given numerous question-and-answer sessions related to climate change and energy usage in recent years.

Michael Mersinis is an artist whose work revolves around the utopian imaginary and the sense of place. Using photography’s elusive relationship with reality and its indexical qualities, his work superimposes the projected qualities of places with the real, mainly through the mediums of photography and sculpture.
