Michaela is a Research Fellow in Human Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh. Her research interests are memory, forgetting and dementia. More specifically, she is exploring (i) how the brain processes new memories, (ii) how these processes are disrupted by other ongoing cognitive activity in patients with memory impairment, and (iii) how memory can be improved in these patients by shielding the memory system from such disruption.
Michaela has organised exhibitions on the brain and co-authored and illustrated a hands-on book about the brain for children. She enjoys playing the drums and guitar, being outdoors and playing tennis.
