Mar is a passionate researcher and policy professional with over a decade experience working in Scotland’s third sector to improve the lives of children, young people and women. She holds a PhD from the University of Surrey; her doctoral research explores children’s role as social and political actors in artist/activist communities.
She is passionate about community-led, collaborative and arts-based approaches to research, and currently leads co-designed research with young women and evidence-based policy development as Research and Policy Lead at the Young Women’s Movement. Sitting at the intersection between age and gender-based oppression, her work focuses on eradicating violence against women and girls.
She is also a Trustee for the Glasgow-based women’s cycling organisation Women on Wheels.
On her days off, you can find her reading contemporary women’s fiction, playing with her cats, or collaging.
