Kirsten Jenkins is a Senior Lecturer in Energy, Environment, and Society within the School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. Alongside her lectureship, Kirsten serves as Managing Editor for the Journal Energy Research & Social Science, as a member of the Scottish Government’s Fuel Poverty Advisory Panel and as an Associate Member of the Scottish Science Advisory Council among other roles. Until March 2026, she was adviser to the Scottish Parliament’s Net Zero, Energy, and Transport Committee.
Kirsten holds a PhD in Sustainable Development from the University of St Andrews and has built an early career as an (undisciplined) social scientist, with research interests that centre around energy policy, energy justice, just transitions, fuel poverty, and sustainable energy provision and use.
