Jonathan was brought up in County Durham and went to Loughborough University where he studied Engineering and Transport Management.
From university, he went into airports working for Manchester Airport Group at East Midlands Airport. He subsequently worked for Newcastle Airport in an aviation development role and then Balfour Beatty in a broader commercial role looking after their airport portfolio. More recently he worked for Stobart Group as Head of Business Development for Stobart’s Air division specifically focused on London Southend Airport, which saw transformational redevelopment and expansion during his tenure.
He joined Edinburgh Airport in early 2013 following its acquisition by GIP as Head of Airline Business Development, later becoming Head of Aviation and then Aviation Director. His team is responsible for the aeronautical income stream and passenger growth.
He enjoys gliding and skiing.
