Ik Heng

Last name

Dr Ik Siong Heng is a physicist at the University of Glasgow. His main research focuses on gravitational wave astronmy. Gravitational waves, predicted by Einstein in his theory of General Relativity, are ripples in the fabric of the universe we live in (aka spacetime). These gravitational ripples will uncover the mysteries that lie in the darkest, densest regions of the Universe. Dr Heng research explores the use of gravitational wave signals as a probe for a variety of astronomical phenomena. He also actively seeks opportunities to apply his gravitational wave expertise to problems in other areas and has a strong track record of collaborating on projects with medical, environmental and defense applications.

Away from the office, Dr Heng likes to cook though is less enthused about doing the dishes. He also enjoys playing and watching the odd game of football.
