Dr Gilles Bailet is a Lecturer in Space Technology at the University of Glasgow. His research focuses on in-space manufacturing, robotics for in-orbit servicing and manufacturing, and environmental testing of space hardware. He leads the Multi-Purpose Environmental Chamber capability and develops evidence-led approaches to safe, sustainable space innovation.
Alongside his engineering work, Gilles builds interdisciplinary collaborations with artists, designers and public-facing partners, including smart textiles and space art–science experiments. He aims to bridge engineering, the arts, humanities and communities, supporting inclusive public engagement and responsible innovation.
