Emma Gordon is a Lecturer in Applied Ethics in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Glasgow, where she also directs interdisciplinary research collaborations at the COGITO Epistemology Research Centre. Her research sits at the intersection of applied ethics, philosophy of technology and epistemology, with particular interests in bioethics, neuroethics, human enhancement and artificial intelligence, especially how emerging technologies affect our responsibility, well-being and relationships.
Emma is the author of Human Enhancement and Well-Being: A Case for Optimism (Routledge, 2022), and as a UKRI AI Metascience Fellow she is currently investigating how AI-assisted research is reshaping scientific inquiry and understanding. She is a Fellow of the Young Academy of Europe, where she chairs the Selection Committee, and outside academia she practises part-time as an integrative psychotherapist.
