Emily is a Lecturer and UKRI Future Leaders Fellow in Chemistry at the University of Glasgow. Her research interests lie in replacing metals in devices with responsive self-assembled organic materials. Her work looks at applications such as ophthalmics, smart windows, alternate cell scaffold materials and organic photovoltaics. Her expertise are in the area of gel characterisation using rheology, electrochemistry and small angle neutron scattering.
Out of lab Emily is researching equality, diversity, inclusion and ableism within the field of supramolecular chemistry with particular focus on helping parents in academia and the retention and promotion of women in academia. Her aim is to change policies and initiatives to aid with returning to work after parental leave. At home Emily has two young daughters and a husband who enjoy castle hunting and Munro bagging at the weekend.
