Bio

Davide is from Emilia Romagna, a region in Northern Italy where he studied Agricultural Sciences. He then obtained a PhD degree in Crop Sciences at the University of Milan (2008) before leaving Italy for Germany, to take a post-doctoral position at the Max Planck Institute of Cologne. In 2013 he established his own research group at the University of Dundee thanks to the support of a Royal Society of Edinburgh / Scottish Government Personal Research Fellowship. His research focuses on understanding, at a molecular level, the relationships between plants and the microbial communities proliferating at the root-soil interface, the plant microbiota, and on how these relationships can be exploited to enhance sustainable crop production.

Our Members

Dr Matt Gibson worked as a geological research scientist at the University of Edinburgh, his work focusing on isotope geochemistry and structural field geology. He then went on to work as an independent geological consultant for the hydrocarbon and nuclear power industry before entering the education sector in 2006.
