Dr Dan Warrender is a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Mentalization-Based Treatment Practitioner, and Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing. Based at Abertay University, he also works privately offering therapy, training and consultancy.
Dan’s areas of interest are broad across mental health, but his research, writing and public engagement has often covered personality disorder, mentalization, crisis intervention, the ethics of risk management, therapeutic practice, and mental health nurse education.
He developed the Action/Consequences Model, an aid to applied ethics for risk formulation in mental health care, which is utilised by a network of clinical teams across the UK.
