Clara Calvert is a Chancellor’s Fellow at the University of Edinburgh’s Usher Institute, and holds honorary posts at Public Health Scotland and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She is an epidemiologist with a research focus on reproductive, maternal and neonatal health, with some of her most recent work exploring the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on maternal and newborn health. She has collaborated with a number of international networks including the Analysing Longitudinal Population-based HIV/AIDS data on Africa (ALPHA) network (https://alpha.lshtm.ac.uk/) and the International Perinatal Outcomes in the Pandemic (iPOP) consortium (www.ipopstudy.com) and has consulted for agencies including the World Health Organization and the United Nations Population Fund. Alongside research, Clara is involved with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in epidemiological methods.
