Dr Caroline Muellenbroich is an optical physicist and team leader with 18 years of experience in developing advanced microscopy technology for the life sciences. During her PhD at the University of Strathclyde and her postdoc at the European Laboratory for Nonlinear Spectroscopy in Florence Italy, Caroline developed advanced and bespoke microscopes for various brain imaging applications. Since joining the University of Glasgow in 2018, she has set up several projects with life sciences and industrial collaborators, for example on structural imaging of remodeling in hearts after myocardial infarction. Additionally, she works on increasing diversity and inclusion in STEM, most recently as PI on a CDT aimed at providing access to a wider, more diverse talent pool, traditionally under-represented in STEM.
