Carlene works in the third sector as Head of Policy for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), focusing on drowning prevention and water safety across the UK. She is the founder of Water Safety Scotland and the Secretariat of the National Water Safety Forum. Her role involves engaging with partners and forums to influence strategy, policy and practice to reduce drowning risk. Alongside this, she is studying for a PhD at Glasgow Caledonian University, focusing on sexual violence disclosure and healthcare responses. Her core interests centre on tackling inequalities, including gender-based violence and amplifying underrepresented voices.
