Andrew is a clinical research fellow at The Patrick Wild Centre for Research into Autism, Fragile X Syndrome and Intellectual Disabilities at The University of Edinburgh and a consultant psychiatrist in the psychiatry of intellectual disability, based in East Lothian. He is also a board member of Scottish Autism, the largest provider of autism-specific services in Scotland.
Andrew’s research centres on the neurobiology of specific genetic causes of intellectual disability but also includes research on how to improve the physical health of, and access to healthcare for, people with an intellectual disability.
Away from work Andrew enjoys walking, running and cycling in the great outdoors with my family and is an advocate of the benefits that physical activity can have on health.

She designs and delivers interactive and visual ‘big picture thinking’ sessions for senior officials. These sessions focus on addressing key policy challenges, teasing out their interdependencies, and situating them in their global context.
