Ahmad Ayyoub is a doctoral researcher in Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh. His research focuses on geopolitical linguistics, examining how language change, identity, and representation are shaped by colonialism and structural inequality, with particular attention to underrepresented and displaced communities and border regions. His work draws on sociolinguistic and anthropological approaches to language and explores the factors that drive language change.
Prior to beginning his PhD in Scotland, Ahmad worked as a lecturer in linguistics at several leading universities in Palestine for over five years, where he taught linguistics and contributed to curriculum development, course coordination, and academic enhancement. His experience spans teaching, research, and institutional development within higher education contexts shaped by political and structural challenges.
Alongside his academic work, he is involved in initiatives supporting refugee communities and cancer awareness. His work reflects a commitment to linking linguistic research with questions of education, representation, and social equity.
