The launch event for YAS Member Dr Jane Stanley’s Lab Notes will take place at the RSE on 14 May at 6pm. Lab Notes is an innovative piece for music and film, set in a modern systems biology lab. The event will commence with the screening of the short film and there will be a panel discussion focusing on the process involved in collaborating between the arts and sciences. Following this there will be a drinks reception. Please view the programme for more information.

Earlier this month, I met Prof Graham Caie, one of the vice-presidents of the RSE. His particular remit is the Arts & Humanities, and I was meeting him as the co-chair who happens to have an A&H background. It was a very friendly and productive meeting, and I wonder if it would be worth arranging similar with the other vice presidents.

Graham is keen to encourage collaboration between RSE and YAS in the arts & humanities.
