"The Power of Data Analytics: Murder, Gambling and Infectious Disease"

Our world is increasingly flooded with data of all types, but without the correct mathematical and statistical thinking, we may be led to make false conclusions when chance events occur. In this pair of one-hour events, statistical experts will highlight the fascinating role of the statistician in the everyday process of weighing noisy evidence and making good decisions.

Date: 9th June, 10am-12pm

Venue: Boyd Orr, room LT2, University of Glasgow

Speakers: Liberty Vittert and Christl Donnelly

This event is organised as part of the Glasgow Science Festival and intended for pupils in S4-S6 studying science and/or maths.

The event is supported and organised by the YAS Education in Excellence working group, the Royal Statistical Society and the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Glasgow.
